A special new chapter in life.

As some of you may already know, I have exciting news to share!

I am so thrilled to officially announce that I have accepted the (newly created) position of
New Chapter Specialist at Alpha Delta Pi Executive Office.
I have been praying that an opportunity would arise to work for Alpha Delta Pi again, and this job is truly a dream come true for me.

I will be joining the Growth & Development department at Executive Office and working closely with colonies and new chapters during their first 3-5 years of development.

During my year as a 2012-2013 Senior Leadership Consultant, I was fortunate enough to serve as the Colony Consultant at Christopher Newport University. I had no idea it was possible for me to love working with a colony as much as I did. I am beyond excited to work with colonies and new chapters again!

My first day in the office will be September 2nd and, don't worry, I have already ordered a new Lilly Pulitzer agenda to commemorate the big day.

Thank you, Alpha Delta Pi, for having the faith in me to take on this new role!

He had given me more than my share.

I cannot express how happy it made me to attend some of my own ADPi chapter's Spirit Week and Formal Recruitment this month. The best part- I was able to be there for Bid Day!

I think most sorority women can agree, Bid Day is one of the best. days. ever. Little did I know back in fall 2007 that August 15th would be a date that changed my life forever.
I will never forget my Bid Day; I remember thinking that was the happiest I had ever felt. I could never have imagined how deeply Alpha Delta Pi would impact my life and how happy it would continue to make me even now.

After that day, I served in two different officer roles before becoming Chapter President. I met my six best friends who I served on our Executive Committee with (and this summer we all stood together as bride/maids in one of their weddings!). I became an intern at Executive Office. I received my first post grad job and was a Leadership Consultant for two years. And I continue to serve Alpha Delta Pi as a dedicated volunteer...

All because of August 15, 2007.

So, happy Bid Day to the Zeta Iota Chapter of Alpha Delta Pi at Georgia College! Who knows where your ADPi stories will lead all because of August 14, 2014.

While the SWs were in Atlanta a few weekends ago, we had a special little treat arranged for us by Christine. She had been shopping at Kendra Scott // The Shops Around Lenox last month and put her business card in a drawing for a Color Bar Party.

Their Color Bar is a massive touchscreen (think wall size) that lets you pick from classic Kendra Scott pieces that you can completely personalize by mixing and matching with different jewels. So. Neat.!

Lucky for us, her card was the winner! This little soiree included cupcakes, champagne, and lots of shopping. It was the perfect addition to our weekend together. Special thanks to #KSAtlanta for the great event!

Here to help tie the knot.

One of the things I am most grateful to Alpha Delta Pi for is introducing me to my best friends (referred to as SWs). The seven of us served on our chapter's Executive Committee together and have been inseparable ever since. We were all recently reunited in Atlanta for another memorable weekend.

In early July, my best friend (aka Rooms) received the surprise of her life when her boyfriend fiancé dropped to one knee and popped the question.
This weekend, it was her turn to ask the question: Would we be her bridesmaids?!

Here we are opening our cards...

Naturally, I shed a few tears after reading mine.

Heather is from St. Simons Island, so a nautical theme was the perfect way to "tie in" her hometown.

She gave us a each a card which read,
I can't Tie the Knot without you... Will you be my bridesmaid?

With each of our cards was a little package with a pair of gold knot earrings -- absolutely adorable!

I am so honored to be a part of this journey and can't wait to stand by my best friend on her big day.

And the SWs prepare to get married...again! #BecomingBurrell

That's a wrap.

First-ever statewide recruitment workshop in Mississippi: check!

If you are reading this and happen to be a collegiate member, alumnae volunteer, or gracious parent who attended this weekend I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. Without each and every one of you this weekend would not have been possible!

As a facilitator, one of the most special things I took away from this weekend was listening to each of the collegiate members speak about why they 'Came Home' to ADPi. I was reminded that our shared values, established by our founders in 1851, are truly what brought us all to the same sisterhood on different campuses across the country and continue to bind us together.

I can't wait to see how bright ADPi shines this year in the Magnolia State! I know y'all are gonna make Eugenia real proud, sisters.

Mississippi girl.

At least once a year I think to myself, "I'm going to start blogging again."
Not sure how long it will last this time, but for now, here goes nothing.

I looked down at my calendar today and was shocked that August 1 was already here. This seemed like the perfect time to get back to the blog.

Tomorrow I hit the dusty trail for Starkville, Mississippi and I could not be more excited! This weekend will be the first-ever statewide recruitment workshop for all of the ADPi chapters in Mississippi (aka Delta Sigma Chapter // Ole Miss, Epsilon Eta Chapter // Mississippi State, and Eta Zeta Chapter // Southern Miss).

I have been fortunate enough to work with a group of ADPi volunteers over the past few months whose focus has been these three chapters (affectionately referred to as Team Mississippi). Our efforts will come to a head this weekend as we help prepare these women (in person!) for Formal Recruitment.

I cannot wait to finally put a face to a name for many of these collegians + advisors we have spent countless hours talking with, and for some much needed sister time! <>

Last week, the ADPi Colony at CNU held their first Sisterhood Event! Since we have not yet elected officers, all of the colony members are working in committees.

The Sisterhood Committee came up with the idea to host "speed dating" for all of our members. The event, appropriately coined "Diamond Dates," was a huge success! The Sisterhood Committee asked everyone to wear date attire, and after the speed dating questions + 3 minute response time, we had a dessert reception.

I highly recommend this event to all sorority chapters! It would be most appropriate to do after you get new members as a way for everyone to get to know one another.

P.S. It's also a fun way to prep for Formal Recruitment conversation!

Snaps to the Sisterhood Committee for an awesome first event! So proud of the hard work that all of the CNU ADPi Colony Committees are doing. We hope to hold this event again next semester after we have MORE new members following Formal Recruitment!
